Math. angles and 2D shapes. By seheon kim.
Angles: We learned about angles. The first one was acute angle. It means angles smaller than 90 degrees. 1~89 degrees. The next one was called right angle. It means 90 degrees. The next one is called obtuse angle. It means angles bigger than 90 degrees. 91~ 179 degrees. We learned so much. 2D shapes: We learned about all these different names for shapes. Even triangles have different names. For instance, a triangle that all sides are equal length is called an equilateral. A triangle with 2 same sides is called an isosceles. A triangle that all sides are different is called an scalene. There are varieties of shapes too. Like polygon, quadrilateral, parallelogram and many more. I did not know about all these shapes until now. I learned so many things!

As Friday was Free Dress Day students were asked to bring in a donation for the Singapore Food Bank. Shui took action by ensuring her donation was a fair trade product.
We have been learning about fair trade. We've learned that cheap prices can mean very low wages for workers and the use of child labour. We are preparing scripts and slideshows to share what we learned. Please support companies that use fair trade. This week, Ms Wright shared a new genre with the class: Science Fiction. Science Fiction is a fiction genre based on the futuristic concepts such as advanced scientific technology, time travel etc.
When we started writing our Science Fiction books, everyone worked very hard. For me, I think I did a good job. On Friday, some people came to publish their book, and some were still working on the book (Including me). I can't wait to see everyone's Science Fiction writing soon, and I hope It's going to be marvellous! Christmas stories: My favourite Christmas story was Shu Mochizuki’s story. It is a total flip side of Santa. Normally when I say Santa, you would imagine a kindly man with a sackful of presents and laughing “ ho ho ho ’’. But in Shu’s story, you would picture a bloody killer like man with a sackful of knives. There is a lot of action. Kinds of action that would appear in horror movies. Though it was scary, you can actually enjoy the story. It is one of those stories that once you read it, it never comes out of your mind. You keep thinking about it and you can picture that bloody Santa even though the book has no pictures and you find it hard to picture characters in the story. The Christmas/horror story I have ever read. I loved it.
Dictator stories: My favourite was Celine’s story. It shows two viewpoints of two different people. She chose those two people very well. One is a dictator while the other is a normal person. I can actually see and picture the whole story because you can see the dictator’s background and the tragic effect that is causing. But the story was also great because when normally you picture a dictator, he or she is all bad but in Celine’s story the two viewpoints fit together so perfectly like a puzzle. You can understand the story so well. Unlike other stories which only had one viewpoint, Celine’s story had these two parts working together in perfect unison. So good. I really enjoyed the story. Our midterm party was great fun. There were many foods that we could choose from. I liked the activities because we played Kickball and it was great. I think the party made people become more open-minded by eating different foods like Sushi, waffles and more food. We also had given gifts to the teachers to show our appreciation.
Today, the whole school came together and celebrated International Day. First, there was "The parade of nations". After that, There were Korean, Chinese and Japanese dances, The Choir, and there was also a sneak peek of Aladdin Junior too! We also did workshops of International Day and it turned out great! My favourite part was when I was with my sister!
Dear parents,
It’s clear that we need to buy glass water bottles, not plastic water bottle. The reason that we have to buy glass water bottles is that if we buy lots of plastic, it could end up in the sea and the sea will get extremely polluted and then all marine animals such as fish, turtles and others will die. Also, the plastic, we can’t reuse that much but the glass we can reuse lots of times. The first reason is that when we use too much plastic, it could end up at the sea then the sea will get extremely more and more polluted. Then the marine animals will eat those and get sick. Also, if we eat the fish that ate plastic, we will get sick. I think, we could also die. So, I strongly disagree with it. Finally, the plastic bottle can’t be reused that much but a glass bottle can. We can use the glass bottle to put some other drinks. Also the glass can break in the water more easier than plastic. In conclusion, it’s extremely clear that we have to buy a glass water bottle, not a plastic bottle because of those reasons. So parents, can you please buy a glass water bottle water not a plastic water bottle? Thank you for reading this letter, Peter Any comments? . |
