We have been creating laws to protect our country Grenovia. The Conservative Party ministers want to establish strong economic policies and a lot of trade and industry; whereas the Social Democratic Party ministers want to ensure the welfare of Grenovian citizens, that there are enough employment opportunities and that the environment is protected. This week we began introducing and defending our proposed bills in the Grenovian House of Parliament.
This week some of the coaches from the Real Madrid Foundation came to ISS to teach us some soccer skills. Despite some very heavy rain we were able to get in some practice dribbling, passing and stopping the ball.
Last week we also visited the Preston campus. We loved the heritage building, the surrounding nature and the view from the canteen!
Oh and we enjoyed the pizza and the trivia competition at the end! On International Children's Day we also watched a short video about the Rights of the Child.
We then used our knowledge of human rights to create a constitution for our mythical country, Grenovia. Our constitution will limit the power of our government officials and ensure that the rights of all Grenovians are protected. After we created the constitution as a class, a couple of students volunteered to write it out while other students created a map, flag, or began their proposed bills. The map of Grenovia incorporated ideas which were proposed to the Minister of Infrastructure and Minister of Finance and discussed. Last week was International Children's Day. In honour of Children's Day, some of the Grade 4 students volunteered to do a dance performance at the assembly. We have been researching the government in our home countries and have learned many interesting facts. This week we presented our findings.

6th,Oct,2019 By Kajsa and Odrita This Monday we had quite an exciting Science lesson. We first learned about different body systems. Then Ms.Hima brought in a skeleton but she didn't tell us what animal it was. We were given a sheet that said Isee, I think, and I wonder. It told us to see what it looks like and write it down then she told us to think what it was and then finally she told us to think of some questions on the paper. At the end she told us what it was. It was a chicken some of us got it right like Kajsa and so did Chisa. The second exciting thing is that we did presentations that is called as ministers of different things like as Minister of Education, Minister of Law, Minister of Transportation just to name a few. We thought about what we would change in the school if we were those ministers. Then we had a fake parliament session and discussed our bills and answered questions in the end. The expert told us if our bill was good and what to research for the second reading. Altogether we had quite an exciting week and we still have the Swimming Gala left. WOOHO!!!!! |
